A Review of Red, White, & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Plot:
First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz is the closest thing to a prince this side of the Atlantic. With his intrepid sister and the Veep’s genius granddaughter, they’re the White House Trio, a beautiful millennial marketing strategy for his mother, President Ellen Claremont. International socialite duties do have downsides—namely, when photos of a confrontation with his longtime nemesis Prince Henry at a royal wedding leak to the tabloids and threaten American/British relations. The plan for damage control: staging a fake friendship between the First Son and the Prince.
As President Claremont kicks off her reelection bid, Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret relationship with Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations. What is worth the sacrifice? How do you do all the good you can do? And, most importantly, how will history remember you?
Review:
★★★★☆
When I saw that Red, White, & Royal Blue was being adapted into a movie, I knew I had to read the book. To be honest, I had heard of this story and was never really interested in reading it, but the trailer completely changed my mind. I instantly bought the book and began reading, falling in love with the characters and the plot quickly.
The story surrounds two characters, Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry, two teenage boys who couldn't be more different. Alex grew up in Texas, a long while away from Prince Henry, who grew up in London, more specifically Buckingham Palace. Alex had a fairly normal life, up until his mother was elected as President of the United States. Prince Henry lived the life of royalty from the beginning, not knowing how it felt to be normal.
Readers get to see these two characters develop a strong and beautiful relationship that faces many hardships and challenges.
My favorite part of this book is how the author utilized the "enemies to lovers" trope. Alex and Prince Henry absolutely despised one another in the beginning. But in the end they fell in love and fell hard.
This book had fun dialogue and unique characters, making it an easy read. I read the entire book in one sitting, stupidly staying up until the crack-ass of dawn to finish it. I highly highly recommend reading this book! Also, go check out the movie on Amazon Prime!
